104 Names. Ones Foor.

One hundred and four Pac athletes registered under CrossFit Porirua for the 2026 CrossFit Open.

No other New Zealand affiliate had more.

That line is easy to turn into a headline. But the headline is not the part that matters most.

The Open only shows what has already been built.

THE FLOOR REVEALS THE GYM

Once a year, the CrossFit Open puts the same workouts in front of affiliates around the world.

The workouts are released. The standards are set. Scores are judged and entered onto a global leaderboard.

That is the competition.

Inside the gym, something else happens.

Newer members share the floor with experienced athletes. Some people arrive chasing a place on the next stage. Others are completing their first judged workout. Loads change. Movements change. Expectations change.

The standard does not.

Everyone is coached. Everyone has a version that belongs to them. Everyone gets the chance to put their name beside the work.

104 DOES NOT HAPPEN IN THREE WEEKS

A large Open team is not built by posting a registration link.

It is built across ordinary weeks.

It comes from coaches who know when to push and when to adjust. From members who understand the purpose behind the session. From experienced athletes who raise the level of the room without making newer people feel that they do not belong in it.

It comes from people trusting the programme, the coaching and the person standing beside them.

By the time the Open arrives, stepping onto the floor does not feel like entering someone else’s competition.

It feels like the next session.

DIFFERENT ATHLETES. ONE STANDARD.

There were 104 different reasons for registering.

Some wanted to compete.

Some wanted to measure a year of training.

Some wanted to do it with their friends.

Some simply wanted to see what happened when the clock started.

That range matters.

Participation means more when the floor is not reserved for the most experienced people in the building. The Open works because a first-time competitor and a high-level athlete can face the same test, with the version and expectation adjusted to the person in front of the coach.

The work changes.

The intent holds.

CROSSFIT ROOTS. A WIDER PROGRAMME.

Pac remains a CrossFit affiliate, and the methodology sits deep within how we understand training.

Broad fitness. Functional movement. Strength, skill and conditioning developed together. Training that can be adjusted without losing its purpose.

Those roots have grown into a wider programme.

Pac builds the base. Fortify gives strength more room. Engine develops aerobic capacity. Weightlifting gives technical work the time it deserves. Team brings the room together. HYROX, personal training and focused entry programmes create further paths for different goals.

The Open draws those pieces back onto one floor.

Strength matters. Capacity matters. Skill matters. Composure matters. Coaching matters.

Nothing exists in isolation.

PARTICIPATION HAS TO BE EARNED

A gym can describe its culture however it wants.

Welcoming. Inclusive. High quality. Community driven.

The better evidence is what people choose to do.

They choose whether to keep turning up.

They choose whether to trust the coach.

They choose whether to put their name on the leaderboard, accept a judge and find out what their training has built.

In 2026, 104 people made that choice at Pac.

The largest CrossFit Open turnout of any affiliate in New Zealand.

THE NUMBER SAYS ENOUGH

We are proud of the result.

Not because every score was exceptional. Not because everyone performed the same version. Not because participation alone tells the entire story of a gym.

We are proud because the number represents depth.

A room large enough for ambition, but coached closely enough for the individual.

Experienced athletes who are still progressing.

Newer members who are not left behind.

A programme with CrossFit at its foundation and more than a decade of work built on top of it.

One hundred and four names.

One floor.

The number says enough.
